Hurricane Ian, a powerful Category 4 storm, made landfall in Florida on September 28th. Millions of Floridians were urged to evacuate and thousands are left without electricity, running water, and access to emergency medical care and supplies. Hurricane Ian's high winds and catastrophic flooding have caused devastation to several Florida communities, and maximum recovery efforts are underway. The organizations selected for this Fund are currently on the ground in Florida organizing direct relief efforts and providing shelter, medical care, food, and supplies to survivors of the storm. The composition of nonprofits in this Fund is subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.

At least 21 people have died, thousands are unaccounted for, and homes, businesses and infrastructure have been devastated. Over 2 million people lost power, and early estimates put homes damaged as 60% or more in some areas. After weakening, Ian is re-intensifying and is expected to further impact the South and North Carolina over the next few days. Cisco Foundation has launched a $250K Hurricane Fiona disaster campaign and donations will be matched up to $10,000 per employee. Hurricane Ian made landfall on Wednesday, September 28 in southwest Florida as Category 4 storm with 150-mph winds. The storm is delivering a catastrophic trifecta of high winds, heavy rain and historic storm surge to the state and is set to cause significant power outages and flooding as it moves at a slow pace across central Florida through the week. We're continuing to monitor the storm and relief needs as the storm continues through the state. We'll add more organizations to this fund as needs present themselves through the disaster.

A hurricane that hit Puerto Rico on Sunday has left at least one person dead and millions of the island’s residents without power or running water. Hurricane Fiona, this season’s sixth named storm, is only the third to transform from a tropical storm into a hurricane since the Atlantic hurricane season started in June. The Category 1 hurricane brought sustained winds topping 85 mph and torrential rainfalls, with some regions receiving up to 25 inches, triggering floods and mudslides. It also caused an islandwide blackout. More than 1.3 million customers were still without power as of midday Monday. Puerto Rico Gov. Pedro Pierluisi said power had been restored to more than 100,000 users as of Monday afternoon and estimated the outage should not last longer than a few days. Fiona made landfall in the U.S. territory two days before the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Maria. Hurricane Fiona made landfall on the southwestern coast of Puerto Rico on Sunday 9/18, with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph and rainfall totals exceeding 30" in many areas. The storm caused an island-wide power outage leaving more than 1 million customers in the dark; over 830K were without running water. Floods and landslides have caused catastrophic damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Fiona then devastated the Dominican Republic with heavy rainfall and life-threatening flash flooding, and went on to make landfall in Canada on the morning of September 24 causing widespread flooding, travel disruptions, and damage to homes, buildings and infrastructure, with hundreds of thousands of people experiencing power outages. At least 19 people have died, including at least 16 in Puerto Rico. Cisco Foundation has launched a $25K Hurricane Fiona disaster campaign to support the efforts of Americares and World Central Kitchen. Donations will be matched up to $10,000 per employee. On 09/02/2022, a downpour of 190 liters per square meter destroyed the homes, destinies, and orderly lives of hundreds of people in Karlovsko. Flooded houses, yards, lost livelihood, domestic animals and crops, and furniture. The water swept away the homes and hopes of hundreds of people. Right now, people are clearing their homes of the mud from which they must build their lives anew. Let's help them. We are collecting funds to buy household appliances and furniture for the affected families and to support parents whose students have to start school.

Maaco Heart Fund

Recently, Pakistan experienced extensive devastation from monsoon flooding. In response, Asians@Braze, Muslims@Braze, and the Social Impact team have teamed up to create a disaster relief fund to support victims of flooding in Pakistan.

Pakistan has been hit and devastated by drought followed by flood. The flood has claimed more than a thousand lives (and counting) and has swept away crops, homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Life has come to a complete stop, and people have no electricity, water, food, shelter, and other basic needs. Almost half a million people have been displaced and suffering. Immediate action and help are needed to provide basic necessities to the needy. Please help me and donate to this cause.

Heavy monsoon rains and flash flooding have devastated the communities of Pakistan since June of 2022, and the flooding is now categorized as a humanitarian crisis. An estimated 33 million people have been affected, with more than 1,000 reported deaths and more than 1,500 reported injuries. Maximum relief efforts are currently underway, but more relief and aid is needed as the country is expected to continue to experience heavy rains. The following organizations are currently making efforts to provide relief to those impacted by these catastrophic and unprecedented weather patterns.

Help the flood victims

Since mid-June, Pakistan has been inundated with record levels of rainfall and flooding, affecting over 33 million people, and causing what Pakistan's Minister of Climate Change is calling the worst humanitarian disaster of this decade. Over 1500 people have died from severe rain and flooding across the country. According to the UN, over 660,000 people have been displaced to relief camps across the country. Pakistan's National Disaster Management Agency states that more than 1.8M homes, 12,700 kilometers of road, and 390 bridges have been destroyed. Cisco Foundation has launched a $500K Pakistan Floods disaster relief campaign to support the efforts of Helping Hand for Relief & Development, Hidaya Foundation, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Medical Corps, Islamic Relief Canada, Islamic Relief USA, Mercy Corps, Save the Children, and World Central Kitchen. Several cities across Pakistan are facing the devastating effects of continuous, heavy rains with the onset of monsoon season this July. As of August 5, 2022, 543+ people have died, as well as over 24,800 livestock. In Balochistan alone, at least 150,000 people are in need of humanitarian assistance, with 18 out of 26 districts declared calamity-hit areas. 36,680+ homes and 1,520 miles of roads have also been damaged, displacing hundreds of families and leaving them in need of food, clean water, shelter, and medical care.

Monsoon season arrived earlier than usual, bringing heavy rains across northeastern Bangladesh resulting in the region's worst flooding in over 120 years. As of mid-June, more than 900 square miles have been affected by floods, impacting and isolating more than 4 million people across several districts including Sylhet and Sunamganj. At least 40 people have been killed; homes, livelihoods and infrastructure have been destroyed. The flood situation in Assam remained grim over the last few months with over 54.5 lakh people still affected and 100+ deaths reported till date. Brahmaputra and Barak rivers along with its tributaries are in spate in most of the affected districts and vast tracts of land remained inundated in 32 of the total 36 districts in the state. The flood waters, however, receded in a few places. According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) bulletin Kopili river is flowing above the danger level at Kampur in Nagaon district, Disang river in Sivasagar, Brahmaputra at Nimatighat, Tezpur, Goalpara and Dhubri, Barak river at Karimganj, Cachar and Hailakandi district and Kushiara at Karimganj. The worst affected districts are Barpeta where 11,29,390 are affected, followed by Kamrup with 7,89,496, Dhubri with 5,97,153 and Nagaon with 5,03,450 people in the flood, according to a bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). The flood has damaged 218 roads and 20 bridges, besides breaching two embankments in Kamrup district. A crop area of 99,026 hectares and 33,17,086 animals have been affected. On June 22nd, 2022 a powerful earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan. That afternoon, the toll had already reached at least 1,000 casualties and more than 1,500 more injured. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 5.9-magnitude earthquake occurred around 1:30 a.m. local time. It was felt across most of the country, and because it took place near the border of Pakistan, the country was also affected. We don't yet know the full magnitude of the disaster, but these organizations are sharing their work and receiving donations so that you can help those affected.
